1. Information We Collect

Population +1 (“the App”) collects the following types of information:

A. Information Stored Locally on Your Device:

• Baby Information: Name and date of birth entered by you to personalize announcements, milestone tracking, and growth charts.
• Milestone & Growth Data: Developmental milestones you mark as completed, notes you add, and growth measurements.
• Photos: Images you select from your device’s photo library for use in birth announcements and keepsakes. Photos are processed locally and are not uploaded unless you place a print order.
• Form Data: Birth details (date, time, weight, length, hospital, city, state) you enter to generate personalized announcements and keepsakes.
• Usage Preferences: App settings, streak data, learning progress, and cart contents.

B. Information Collected When You Place a Print Order:

• Name & Shipping Address: To deliver your printed products to you.
• Email Address: To send order confirmations and shipping updates.
• Phone Number (optional): For delivery-related communications only.
• Order Details: What you ordered (products, sizes, materials, quantities, prices).
• Design Snapshot: A record of the exact design you approved for printing, saved as part of your order for quality assurance and dispute resolution.
• Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe, Inc. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to:

• Generate personalized birth announcements, natal charts, time capsules, yard signs, postcards, trading cards, and memorial keepsakes.
• Track your baby’s developmental milestones and growth.
• Provide educational content through the learning center.
• Fulfill and ship print orders you place.
• Send order confirmations and shipping notifications to your email.
• Maintain order records for customer service, quality assurance, and legal compliance.
• Save your progress and preferences between sessions.

3. Data Storage & Security

Local Data: Design data, milestones, and preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, this information is permanently deleted.

Order Data: When you place a print order, your order record (order details, shipping address, design snapshot) is stored securely in Google Firebase with encryption at rest and in transit. Order records are retained for up to 7 years for tax, legal, and customer service purposes, after which they are automatically deleted.

Payment Data: All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. using industry-standard PCI-DSS Level 1 security. We never receive or store your credit card information.

4. Third-Party Services

The App interacts with the following third-party services:

• Stripe (Payments): Processes payments securely. Your payment information is sent directly to Stripe and governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
• Print Fulfillment Partner: When you place a print order, your design files and shipping address are shared with our professional print partner solely for order fulfillment. No data is shared unless you explicitly place a print order.
• Google Firebase: Used for serverless functions, order record storage, and population data. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Population Data APIs: The App fetches publicly available population statistics. No personal data is sent in these requests.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any similar services.

5. Children’s Privacy

Population +1 is designed for parents and guardians to create keepsakes and track milestones for their children. The App does not:

• Collect data directly from children.
• Require or allow children to create accounts or make purchases.
• Share any child’s information with third parties for marketing.
• Display advertisements of any kind.

All information about a child (name, date of birth, photos) is entered by a parent or guardian. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. Period.

Data leaves your device only when:

• You explicitly choose to share a generated image (via your device’s share sheet).
• You explicitly place a print order (design and shipping info sent to our print partner and payment processor for fulfillment only).

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: All locally stored data is visible within the App. For order records, contact us and we will provide a copy of your order history.
• Deletion: Local data can be deleted by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling. To request deletion of order records from our servers, email us at the address below. We will comply within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
• Correction: If your order contains incorrect information, contact us before your order enters production and we will correct it at no charge.
• Portability: Generated images can be saved to your device and shared as you choose.
• California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of data sales (we do not sell data). Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

• Photo Library: To select photos for announcements and to save generated keepsake images.
• Camera (if applicable): To take photos for use in announcements.

These permissions are optional. The App functions without them, though some features will be limited.

9. Data Retention

• Local data: Stored until you delete it or uninstall the App.
• Order records: Retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance, then automatically purged.
• Payment data: Managed entirely by Stripe per their data retention policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
